Hi, I’m Kaede — a poet, language nerd, and queer-friendly teacher based in Tokyo.
I hold a master’s degree in English poetry from Kyoto University. I have also written academic papers in the field of Japanese education. I’ve been teaching English for over 10 years to learners of all levels and backgrounds.
I’m a poet and a passionate language nerd with a deep sensitivity to words.I’ve studied multiple languages: English, French, Chinese, Māori, and Arabic.
I love helping each person find their strengths and build confidence — like gentle, language-focused support.
I learned English from scratch through self-study. I specialize in helping people learn languages without needing to travel.
I offer a safe, inclusive space for: - learners looking for a fun and enthusiastic class!
- shy or sensitive learners
- anyone who feels out of place in traditional classrooms
- queers, and neurodivergent folks
Bonus point: I can also tell you some fun expressions in Kansai dialect, a warm and colorful way of speaking in Japan.
We can discuss grammar, conversation, or broader topics like feminism, politics, identity, or culture — always with respect and curiosity.
